THE TAYBAR TOPPERS
NO BOUNDERIES
Laura Davies from Wales goes shopping with her Cavalier and writes....."Gelert" gets the star treatment at Boundary Mills, Wednesbury. His very own security guard while mummee went into the store. Well done to the lovely manager for understanding."
King Charles II wrote a Royal decree which allowed the spaniels access to all public buildings in the kingdom....so the Law does exist and Cavaliers can go almost anywhere!
LE KILT
Douai Dog Exposition in Northern France is a fun affair and the organisers and committee make a special effort each year to put on a show. This year the theme was obviously Scottish! Two well known Cavalier breeders/exhibitors Guillaume Tytgat (Les Cavaliers des Bettignies) and Dominique Acquiert (Des Contemplations) showed they were "Brave Hearts"! Thanks to L-F Photographie for the super views!

TOP OF THE WORLD
This year Milan in Italy was host to the World Dog Showand the vino was flowing as the WORLD WINNER TITLEin Cavaliers went to a home bred dog. Judges were Evelyn Hurleyfrom Ireland and Claudine Metansfrom France. Best of Breed was Boatswain Claybred by Stefano Ferrariand from Modeno and owned by Licia Di Bitetto. Best Opposite Sex was Sugar Brown vom Welfenhof who was bred in Germany by Simone Frankenburg and lives with his Italian owner Gisello Maraschio. Celebrations were definitely in order, as this is the 2nd year that Stefano has won BOB at the WDS. In 2013 in Budapest, it was the turn of Marco Bindelli with Ch Boatswain CamiloCienfuegos. A lucky show for the Italian Cavaliers.

Just recently, Sandra Hallam and her Cavalier "Henry" had fun performing their Morecambe & Wise routine in a Strictly Canine Team advanced competition. They were delighted to get 4th place. Am sure Eric and Ernie would be thrilled.

NEED A HELP WITH THAT?
Assistance dogs can make the world of difference to the lives of those that love them and rely on them every day. Lesley Price suffered such clinical anxiety she could not walk from the house to collect the mail. Then she met Sue and Andrew Holmes of Canine Helpers of Bray Park in Queensland Australia "I wouldn’t be alive today without Sue and Andrew,” Mrs Price said. "The Holmes put two of Mrs Price’s Labradors, Emma and Abey, through a private certification course for disability assistance dogs. Certification allows Mrs Price to go anywhere with her dogs. Since the dogs began helping, Mrs Price has given up her anxiety medication, has never been hospitalised as she was in the past and reduced her psychiatric visits in number and time. “I can go anywhere with Abey, I have no fear,” she said. Assistance dogs trained by Sue and Andrew Holmes are very smart. Current trainee Lacey can load and unload a front-loading washing machine. “Unfortunately, she cannot do the ironing,” Mrs Holmes said. Dogs trained for ex-soldiers with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) will nudge their owners when they are sleeping to calm them down during a nightmare. A Cavalier called Bree looks after a diabetic and can take the phone off the hook and press a big button for help. Hear about what these dogs can do. Kelso in the Scottish Borders is the home of Border Union All Breeds Championship showand has to be one of the prettiest settings for a dog show. The weather tries hard to play nice and when it does it makes us realise how much fun can be had in a day in the sun at a dog show. This year it was a mixture of sunshine and showers but even the occasional rain couldn't dampen the spirits around the Cavalier ring where Heather Lamont (Moorfields) from Ballymena in Northern Ireland was the judge. Two new Champions were crowned and what made it more interesting was that they were both Black/Tans. More details of class winners etc can be found elsewhere on site www.cavaliers.co.uk
I had a day away from exhibiting and instead judged the Smooth Coat Chihuahuas. Another Cavalier breeder wearing a different hat that day was Dorothy Bailey (Aldoricka) who was judging King Charles Spaniels and Japanese Chins.I managed to find time for a few snaps.
