.......AND THE MAGIC

Teddyrbis

Kevin Clinewrites from the USA "It is with a heavy heart that we report the loss of Champion Pascavale Enchanted. We were hoping to celebrate 'Teddy’s' 14th Birthday today but unfortunately he left us just a few days early. He lived a very full life and will be missed by those that loved him so dearly. Special condolences go to his breeders Mark Sedgwick and Michael Levywho bred and campaigned him to his British crown and Paula Ayers and Brenda Martzwho cared for him when he arrived in the US for some years. Over the last several years it has truly been a privilege to care for him and have him as a part of our family, sleeping on my youngest daughter’s bed. In addition, he has directly and indirectly touched the lives of many people all over the world.  We would like to celebrate his life by reflecting on his accomplishments and remembering this remarkablyinfluential and sweet-natured cavalier.
"Teddy" leaves behind a tremendous legacy. His influence as a stud dog is profound and is realized not only in his direct progeny but by several generations of their progeny as well.  He has sired 8 British Champions, over 15 European Champions, 22 CKCSC USA Champions and 63 AKC Champions.11737053_10152860236927352_1080655993_n
He sired offspring on four continentsincluding a one time top CC holder in the UK, the top cavalier in France for several years and the all time top winning Cavalier in the CKCSC, USA to date.  He was the top sire in the UK for three years 2004/05/06 including top toy stud dog in 2006.  He was the top sire in the CKCSC, USA for four consecutive years from 2008 through 2011.  Additionally, he is the overall top all time Sire to date in the CKCSC, USA and tied for the top Cavalier sire of all time in the AKC. He has earned a Register Of Merit in the CKCSC and AKC and a Legion Of  Merit in the AKC, having produced at least three progeny that have obtained their Register Of Merit. How proud Mark and Michael can be breeding such a remarkable legacy. 11721201_10152860237797352_182821721_n
All of this considered, perhaps the best attribute that he passed along was his loving and sweet personality. He never met a stranger, loving every person and cavalier that he encountered.

CH Pascavale Enchanted, you were a once in a lifetime dog; a true star among stars. You will forever be cherished in our hearts and you will live forever through your future generations."

Our animals shepherd us through certain areas of our lives. When we are ready to turn the corner and make it on our own… they let us go."  ~Author unknown

Every generation sees Cavaliers that stand away from the crowd...."Teddy" was one of those dogs. One, that as breeders, we all wanted to have bred.....RIP sweet boy, you were very special....Norma, on behalf of the Cavalier world .

 ROCKY AT THE GAMESImages

The  Pan American Games  is a major sporting event in the Americas featuring summer sports, in which thousands of athletes participate in a variety of competitions. The competition is held among athletes from nations of the Americas, every four years in the year before the Summer Olympic Games. The Pan American Games are currently being held in Toronto, Canada from 10th -26th July.

For the first time in the program’s 20 year history, 125 St. John Ambulance therapy dogs will attend a major sporting event as athletes from 41 countries gather for the Games. "Rocky" seen above is one of the chosen few and will be joined by owner Evelyn Morrow at the Nottawasaga Inn Resort satellite location and at the Pan Am Village in downtown Toronto. After five minutes with "Rocky" it’s easy to see what makes him a good therapy dog. He’s friendly but not intruding, gentle but not frail. He is 9 years old and puts people at ease. Next week he’ll be exercising that ability with the Games’ athletes.

Rescued from a shelter when he was about a year old, Rocky has lived with Ms. Morrow since 2007. She saw his potential as a therapy dog and took a closer look at the St. John Ambulance program, which the two have been a part of since 2009.  "I thought he would be a good fit because he loves everybody. He’s just a very gentle dog. For the athletes at the Pan Am Games, it’s a stress reliever for them."

 DRINKING FOUNTAIN

91GcrgoiFcL__SL1500_

In nature, moving water is much fresher than stagnant water. The movement constantly breaks the surface tension of the water and draws oxygen from the air into the water. This process is called aeration and it makes the water more appealing to drink. Pets may be drawn by instinct to moving water for this reason. Research shows that one of the best ways to improve your pet’s health is to get them to drink more water, and the best way to do that is with the Drinkwell Platinum Pet Fountain. The Pet Fountain filters and aerates continuously moving water to keep it much fresher than standing bowl water. In addition, the constant circulation inhibits bacteria growth keeping the pet fountain cleaner. The Drinkwell Pet Fountains satisfy a pet’s urge for fresh running water and provides peace-of-mind to pet owners who know their pets have a good supply of clean water. Pet Fountains encourage pets to drink more water and for this reason are recommended by Vet Urinary Specialists.

DOGS DUMPED AS THEY CEASE TO BE A FASHION ITEM

8e1c6cdabd93926e600047f80f4cb91e
Designer 'handbag' dogs made popular by celebrities such as Paris Hilton and Simon Cowell are now the most dumped in Britain, charity bosses revealed. A study found the number of "handbag" dogs handed in to the Blue Cross Animal Charity has increased by 120 per cent in the last five years.

The charity is now urging potential owners to do their research properly before buying a dog, rather than following the latest celebrity trend.Kellie Brookes, Blue Cross rehoming centre manager, said: "Sadly, people often think these little dogs won't be much trouble to care for and it's often too late when they realise they don't have time. People may also think that breeding 'handbag' pups is a good way to make a bit of money, but it can be more difficult to find good homes for them than you imagine.

The top five 'handbag' breeds handed into Blue Cross rehoming centres last year were:

  1. Yorkshire Terrier 92 in 2014  (65 in 2009)
  2. Chihuahua 53 in 2014 (0 in 2009)
  3. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel 36 in 2014 (14 in 2009)
  4. Bichon Frise (28 In 2014 (13 in 2009)
  5. Shih Tzu 31 in 2014 (17 in 2009)
