SAD PASSING
Pictured in 1985...
The news that Ellis Hulme (TONGEMOOR),one of the top Toy Breed Specialist and All Rounder judges, had passed away this week was unwelcome and I, like so many, am saddened to realise that Ellis will no longer be around. His quiet professionalism, depth of knowledge in so many breeds, unassuming and friendly personality is a great loss. If there were more people with the integrity of Ellis we would be richer in the dog game. I will miss seeing his smile and conversation. He had a long connection with Cavaliers and his opinion was held in high esteem. RIP, Ellis.

BEANIE BABY
Pebblecombe Poetess at Coedgwylum owned by Ruth and John Conneally is in the money. As reported previously, she won the £20 special for the oldest Cavalier at the West of England Cavalier show in February. She repeated her performance at South and West Cavalier Club Open show where she won another £10. She will be 13 on 9th July this year. Looking good, Beanie, and well done to our UK Clubs for acknowledging and rewarding our Vintage Cavaliers.
.......there is an extra show award in the pipeline for all Cavaliers aged 10 years and over. Flo Sinclair, Veronica Hull, Sandra Ireland, Ruth Smith and Geoffrey Porter have generously got together so that the Vintage Cavaliers who attend and compete in our UK Club Championship shows will get a bonus. This is a competiton and a special Annual Award will be on offer for the Best of the Twilighters. So if you have a fit Cavalier who is 10 years and over, maybe you would like to join the Veteran/Vintage classes at the Club Championship shows....more details coming up soon
WHO WILL BE BIG IN THE BALTICS?
The Estonian Cavalier Club in conjunction with
other Group 9 breeds are holding a Specialty show weekend on 18/19th
May in Tallinn. Judging the Cavaliers are Simone Frankenburg and Claudia
Holweg from Germany and myself and the other breeds are in the hands of Zofia Konderla from Poland and Carole Garhöfer from Austria. This
year commemorates the 10th Anniversary for the Estonian Cavalier Club and the
Committee are trying to make this as memorable as possible. They have a
record entry and as the show is held outdoors, hopefully the weather
will be favourable. A nice touch is that people, if they want, are asked
to dress up in period costume. Any period prior to 1950! If there are
any that take up the challenge it will be worth capturing on camera.
Can't wait.

PRETTY THINGS
Jennifer Barajas lives in New Mexico and loves her Cavaliers. I have recently discovered that she is a very talented artist and has turned her hand to painting Cavaliers on a variety of items. It is Jennifer who has donated the beautiful hand painted vase for the Eastern CKCS Society special show in July.
Thought I would share with you some of her stunning jewellry pieces.
If anyone is interested in finding out about having your own Cavalier painted, you can contact Jennifer on Barajas79@aol.com
