The Humberside Cavalier Club held a Companion Dog show on 28th April at Great Hale, near Sleaford in Lincolnshire. Judge was Sue Paterson (Phrenchy). This was in aid of Humberside CKCS Club Health Fund which enables the club to offer FREE Heart Testing to their members at their Championship Show.

Joanne Hall writes....It was a wonderful and brilliant show run by Pat & Brian Esson the show organizers who they do a brilliant job in raising money for charity.  The show started at 9am with the Pedigree classes first, after that was the Cavalier Parade 945686_10200856168664144_25971330_n
where all15 cavaliers walked round just like being at a show and then the judge looked at each dog.  She then chose the Best of Breed first which was my 'Dallas' (
Clockpelters The Viceroy) who was given these wonderful prizes, a Trophy, Rosette & Sash.  Linda Flynn, secretary of the Club was there meeting us all and giving us a Medal for taking part in the Parade. When the Parade had finished the handling classes started followed by Companion show classes like, Most handsome dog, waggiest tail, best mover, appealing eyes etc.  These classes are mixed with dogs/bitches of different ages and breeds.

Nancy Rice Waggoner of CloBear Cavaliers from the Pacific North West in the USA writes "I just received a candid shot taken at the American CKCSC Nationals last month of my veteran girl "Amy" who was entered in the Veteran Sweeps class for dogs 11 years and over. I just had to share it. Miss Amy,AKC CH. Kilshannon Autumn CloBear, was 15.5 years old last month.  She got a standing ovation when she was in the ring and I was so proud of her. This photo shows her having so much fun and she was so excited at being in the ring once more. I will never forget this wonderful experience with my sweet girl.

WHAT KIRSTIE DID DOWN UNDER
"My husband David and I have recently returned from a trip of a lifetime in New Zealand and Australia.  I was lucky enough to be invited to judge two Cavalier Club Championship shows at the end of April/May. We combined the trip with a holiday and we spent the majority of our time in the stunning South Island travelling about and taking in some amazing sights.  I even managed to fit in some training for the up and coming 10k Run in Edinburgh (and didn't she do well!)

The first Appointment on the 27th April was the Canterbury Cavalier Championship Show which was held at the McLeans Island Kennel Centre in Christchurch. Cg
My main winners were Best Dog and Best in Show was 6 yr old Grand Ch Nidra Fortune Chest with PrestonvilleBest Bitch and Reserve Best in Show was Prestonville Whispering with Milford.  Reserve Best Dog was  Ch Cavtrivar Mystery Eko and Reserve Best Bitch was  Travilla Over the Top at Greygables.

The show had a lovely atmosphere and the hard working ladies on the Committee put on a fantastic spread at lunch time.

 RESERVE BEST BITCH
After a few days tasting wine and watching whales it was time to leave for Adelaide Adelaide-River-Torrensin Australia where on the 4th May I judged the Cavalier Club of South Australia.

My main winners were Best Dog and Best in Show was Ch Cobbets Cockney Rebel (Imp UK), Best Bitch and Reserve Best in Show was Supreme Ch Matmor Fun O The Fair Reserve Best Dog was  Ch Melloway Adrenaline Rush, who is son of Cockney Rebel. Reserve Best Bitch came from the same kennel with Ch Melloway Magnifique, who again was sired by Cockney Rebel.
Again it was another well run show with a friendly atmosphere where David and I were made very welcome.

DNA TESTING SCHEME
ADN_animation
Now that DNA testing for
Curly Coat/Dry Eye and Episodic Falling Syndrome has become an official KC scheme, the Animal Health Trust have received requests to release results for individual dogs so that they will appear on the KC online Health Test Results Finder, be included on KC registration documents, and be recorded in the Breed Records Supplement. Owners wishing test results from the research to be released to the KC are required to contact the AHT directly to provide consent. Reporting of these results should be entirely voluntary. Requests can be made by emailing Lou Hayward at lou.hayward@aht.org.uk and these will be processed as quickly as possible if the subject line reads "Cavalier DNA test results" and the body of the email contains the KC registered name of the dogor dogs involved and a statement to the effect that the owner gives their permission for DNA test results to be released to the KC. Lou can also be reached by post at Lou Hayward (CPM), Animal Health Trust, Lanwades Park, Kentford, Newmarket CB8 7UU. Telephone requests will not be accepted for security reasons. If the ownership of a Cavalier has changed since the study was completed in April 2012, the new owner will be asked to send a copy of the dog's current KC registration certificate by email or post.
Once requests have been received, batches of results will be forwarded to the KC regularly where they will be uploaded to the Health Test Results Finder as quickly as possible. Owners should expect the total processing time to take a fortnight, although it may be less than this.
