Congratulations to Fabienne and Dominique Auquiert (Des Contemplations( from Le Fauga, near Toulouse, who are TOP CAVALIER BREEDERS 2014 in France. FELICITATIONS!
A blast from the past.....a picture sent by Nanette Foster (then Nan Armstrong) showing her winning the RCC in 1984 at Border Union with MALANIS JAKE (Ch Homerbrent Andy Capp ex Malanis Florence) under judge Brigadier Burgess. 'Jake' won 1CC and 4RCC. You can see the late Rainy Brown in the background and it seems, with the Brigadier in shirt sleeves, that Border Union was blessed with the good weather it is known for. It was a show that we also recall with fondness as our Ch Craigowl Storm of Homerbrent won her 2nd CC on the day.

THE OLD ONES ARE THE BEST
Featuring KOROLEVSKY NATALYA who at 13 years 2 months won the £20 award ( donated by Norma and Gordon Inglis on behalf of the Cavalier Chat Forum) for the oldest Cavalier exhibited at the Cavalier Club Championship show 2015. As this was her show swan song, her owner/breeder Hilary Barlettis super proud. Hilary says..."She enjoys her walks and likes to stop and think whether any other dogs on the horizon are worth going to meet. One of my grandson’s favourites, as he used to take her to bed when visiting and I remember him crying his eyes out if she was not there in the morning ! I love her dearly and trust she will continue to enjoy her life." enjoy your retirement, Natalya!
THOSE GOLDEN YEARS
...from Fran Hellman (Sunjays Cavaliers) ....On February 28, 2015 we had the privilege of celebrating our 'Sammy's' 15th birthday. He is a leap year puppy, born on February 29, 2000. 'Sammy' aka AKC CH Highland Fairfield Samuel CD, C-CD HIT, AX, AXJ, CGC, TT, Reg. Therapy Dog and R.E.A.D.is our first cavalier, so a a significant dog for us. Bred by Ann Danenbergand sired by Keyingham Ludovic out of AKC CH Fairfield Emily Dickinson, we are forever grateful to Chuck Minter (Fairfield) for entrusting us with our very special little dog at 4 months of age. 'Sammy' made us fall in love with this wonderful breed. He has excelled in anything that we have ever asked of him. His temperament is so outstanding that he has made a perfect therapy and R.E.A.D. dog. During the R.E.A.D visits he would sit and look at the book and the child the entire time during the reading. We retired Sammy from activities and he is doing quite well for his age. We cherish him each and every day. The photo below was taken on his 15th birthday and the R.E.A.D photo was taken the previous summer at his last visit. 'Sammy' is owned and loved by Fran, Howard, Jason and James Hellman from New York.
You smash it, Sammy!
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club of Central Arizona serves the Phoenix area and it was a pleasure for Gordon and me to go out and judge their Specialty show held at the West World Polo Grounds in Scottsdale at the end of February. We had already heard about the mild winters experienced in this part of the USA and everything they say is true. We left a cold, freezing UK and were met by sunshine and balmy conditions. How lucky were we that the show day dawned with a warm sun and a light breeze...perfect conditions for dog showing.
Rachel Venier (Orchardhill) started the day's events by judging Puppy Sweeps and chose the black and tan bitch Legacy Double Vision at Madee for BestPuppy.

Then there were 2 back to back shows. Gordon judged in the morning. I waited in hotel until he had finished and after lunch it was my turn.

In the evening many of the Club members met up at an Italian Restaurant which made a lovely end to a super day.
Over the next few days, for those with the stamina, there were 4 All Breed shows with Cavalier classes. On one of the days we met up with the MEET THE BREEDCavalier people. A bit like Discover Dogs in the UK where the public were able to chat to breeder/owners and pet the dogs. I have to say the dogs were wonderful and magnificent ambassadors.
