RECENT CLUB SHOWS IN UK
The Regional Cavalier Club Open shows are always popular and gives the opportunity for budding judges to gain experience in dealing with larger classes of Cavaliers than would normally be presented at General All Breed shows where usually 5 classes are the norm. Here are some fun pics and results from shows in my neck of the Northern woods!.....theNorthern, Humberside and Scottish Cavalier 2016 shows.
136 entries awaited main judge Liz Smith (Mulvern) and Special Classes judge Jo Lewis (Carleeto) at the January Open show. I personally love the venue at Thorpe Willoughby near Selby in Yorkshire with easy access from the A1 and it does seems to lend itself to the feel good factor judging by the smiles of the people attending. From bacon butties in the morning to free tea and coffee with cake in the afternoon....this show is really geared to provide for the exhibitors and dogs. The Committee work hard to ensure everyone has a great day out win or lose. The lunch time food is hot, delicious and home made and there were a lot of 'compliments to the chefs' heard throughout the day. If anyone has a reason to celebrate, a bottle always seems to appear as if by magic! and shared around. You don't expect to find a bottle of Bollinger in the raffle, but it was the real deal and Sue Brooks who won it, generously opted to share. Congratulations to all the winners and Maxine and Andy Shone had a very special day. Gaining Junior Warrant, Best Dog and finally Best in Show with young tricolour Pamedna Renaissance.

Bircotes near Doncaster has been the home of the Humberside Open show for a long time and a warm welcome awaits anyone who enters. Another show that has a cheery atmosphere and the committee work well together. Easily reached from main roads, large car park, warm, light airy hall.....homemade food. All adds up to a winning combination. It always helps when someone's birthdays falls on the show day....cake and wine...the fun at the show in and out of the ring, just gets better...funny that!

John Hubbard (POPOLULU) drew a super entry of 90. The Ochil Hills partly covered in snow are a fabulous backdrop to the venue at Alva in Clackmannanshire. Such a friendly show. The Year Books were handed out and full marks to Carol McKenzie and Gladys Baillie for turning out such a polished publication. I know I always go on about the food! but it is worth mentioning...homemade Lasagne, Macaroni and Cheese, Cottage Pie, Stovies and then meringues, Ian Gibb Stuart's scrumptious Strawberry and Rasperry Cheesecake were all mouthwatering. It was so nice to see 19 entered for the Veteran and Vintage classes, 11 of them were over 10 and several will celebrate their 13th birthday this year.
