THE PEOPLE THAT DID THIS ARE MONSTERS...
Police in Pensacola, Florida, smashed the window of a car to save a Cavalier puppy from a sweltering vehicle, then posted photos of the rescue on Facebook that has gone viral, as a warning to other dog owners. The puppy had been left inside a car in the Cordova Mall parking lot. The temperature outside was 94 degrees, with a heat index of 108. Officer Anthony Giorgio with the Pensacola Police Department was called to the scene after receiving a report that a puppy could be heard whimpering inside the vehicle. “I put my hand in the car and could feel that it was hotter inside the car than outside, I called my sergeant and let him know what I had, and he instructed me to make entry and I broke the window with my police baton." His actions likely saved the puppy’s life, according to veterinarian Mark Sprayberry. Police posted photos of the rescue on the department’s Facebook page warning pet owners they will act if they see a dog left inside a vehicle on a hot day. “Don’t. Just don’t. If you leave your dog in a hot car and that dog is suffering, we will do whatever we have to do to free it. We will drive your pooch to the caring folks at the Escambia County Animal Shelter and we will drop you off with the caring folks at the Escambia County Detention Facility.” The rescued puppy was later returned to its owner who was issued a citation. The puppy was still with its mother, which is why it was returned.

Animals can sustain brain damage or even die from heatstroke in just 15 minutes. Beating the heat is extra tough for dogs because they can only cool themselves by panting and by sweating through their paw pads

On 10th June I travelled by train from Newcastle to London and then on to Lille on the Eurostar to judge at Douaitwo day show in the North of France.
What an extravaganza it was. The committee had pulled out all the stops. Excellent organisation, smart dogs, good company, great conversations. The Best in Show ring was a real floor show with spotlights, foot tapping music, the committee dressing up in kilts on day one and on day two they were celebrating in "guinguette" style. Each Group judge was announced and then walked into the ring by two escorts. Such fun.
