 'MISS CHIEF',SADLY MISS'D

Black-ribbon-1154699-m
Some Cavaliers, such as Caption, Alberto, Lucasta etc are memorable and their names are instantly recognisable even without their affix. 'Miss Chief' was such a Cavalier. AKC, CKCSC USA & UK Champion Timsar Miss Chief was born on 4th August 2000 by Linjato Ace of Base out of Timsar Lucasta and sadly passed away this week, in her 14th year.

 Molly3a[1]

Annette Jones, her breeder owner, writes......"Mollie" was I think my once in a life time dog. She was from a litter of three bitches – Miss Chief, Miss Fortune and Miss Damina  I didn’t think she was in any way special when she was born and in fact when friends Char and Lamont Yoder would ask about the litter I would just say “Oh they are quite nice!”  We have laughed many times about that since.

Her show debut was delayed somewhat by the Foot and Mouth epidemic so her first show was at a rather damp Scottish Kennel Club in May 2001 where I had to do a crash course in training her to “stand” on the grooming table (minor details like training of the Timsar puppies is usually done at their first show!) – she was placed second. Next came the Humberside Club show which she thought was fun, but wasn’t placed. The following week was Three Counties All Breeds Championship show – Judge, Norma Inglis (Craigowl) By this time 'Miss Mollie' had got her act together – as far as she was concerned all those people sitting ringside in the sun ring were there just to see her – blow the rest!! She stood four square and her tail never stopped wagging I was there merely to hold the lead!  She won the puppy class  - I thought “great she’s qualified for Crufts” Never in my wildest imaginings did I ever think she would win the CC, go Best of Breed courtesy of co judge Sandra Ireland (Charnell) win the Toy puppy group under Geoffrey Davies and go back to the show two days later and win Best Puppy in Show under the world re-knowned judge Ellis Hulme, now departed.
I showed her for 19 months during which time she won 7 CCs and 7 Res CCs. She went Best in show at the Northern CKCS Society on her first birthday – Diane Whitfield judged bitches and the late Michael Boothroyd was the referee and also Best In Show at South & West Wales – the late Geoffrey Porter judged the bitches.  She then retired to nursery duties and had two litters. Mated to Pascavale Enchanted she produced Timsar Master of Ceremonies and to Maibee Montrose – Timsar Mister Moonlighter.
Close friends Char and Lamont Yoder in the USA took over then and the spoiling began! The initial idea was that Char should get her fit again (she was fat after nursing the Moonlighter litter!) and then for them to have a litter from her the following year. The plan changed and Char showed her to her Championship “old club “ and AKC – Could the planned litter be delayed so she could go to the the ACKCSC National?  – see below....another bit of her history was created!

I had the priviledge of judging the ACKCS National Specialty in 2006 in Georgia and in a star studded entry I found CH TIMSAR MISS CHIEF, 'Mollie', still filled my eye. In the row upon row of Specials lined up for my assessment she still had that extra factor. At 6 years old she looked in amazing condition and showed like the star she was and took a well deserved Best of Breed. It was lovely to see her again and in years to come, on the rare occasions I saw her, she always had a warm welcome for me. Such was her character....so Cavalier. She was very special and I dearly wished she had been mine. RIP 'MOLLIE', you were beautiful.....Norma

Black-ribbon-1154699-mIt must have been so hard and emotionally draining that on the day following 'Mollie's' loss, Annette also had to say good bye to her son, Timsar Master of Ceremonieswho underwent two operations to remove some towelling from his stomach and small intestine. Sadly, he did not make it. The picture taken above was in 2011 when at 7 years of age, he came out of retirement, and shown by Sylvia Lymer, he went Best of Breed and ultimately Best in Show at the Three Counties Peke and Cavalier Show under Gordon Inglis.Later that year, under Elaine Lessig at the Midland CKCS Championship show he also was awarded aReserve CC from the Veteran class.

What a wrench to lose two such precious companions in such a short spell. Our thoughts are with Annette at this time.

At LKA, the last General Championship show 2013 in the UK, there were loads of people dressed in 'onesies' collecting money for charity. The Cavalier people doing this were Elaine Williams, Melissa Phillips and Helen and Lorraine Long. "We are pleased to tell you that we raised £109.41 at in aid of Cancer Research. This was collected around the CKCS ring from exhibitors, spectators and the judge Stephen Bardwell and stewards and adds to that collected online already on Justgiving.com. We would like to thank all those who contributed to this worthy cause" Elaine Williams, Melissa Phillips, Helen and Lorraine Long.

A CHRISTMAS 'CAROL' FOR TONY BOOTH

2336641043

Actor Tony Booth, father of Cherie Blair and so father in law to former Prime Minister Tony Blair, is best known for his role in the BBC series Till Death Us Do Part. He and his wife Steph have recently adopted a Cavalier who they have festively named Carol.

Alexa’s Animals Dog Rescue, a Northumberland volunteer organisation, had been looking after 'Carol', thought to be aged around eight or nine, after she was found tied to a lamppost. When he heard the story about 'Carol', Tony, who was a bit damp around the eyes, said, ‘We’ll have her’. She is settling in well at her new home and joins the couple’s other two dogs, a Jack Russell and a Springer Spaniel.
