HOW "ART" THOU?
Rarely seen....English mid 19th century approximately 7 x 7 ½ inches high
"The Wishing Pool" etching by the great English canine artist Herbert Thomas Dicksee RE, (1862 – 1942) published in 1904. It is approximately 18 x 26 inches. Dicksee was a dog lover often seen walking his Bloodhound. The Dandie Dinmont and Pugs in his etching were family dogs, as was the favourite Bull Terrier. The black French Bulldog, ’Shaver’, featured in his etchings was the only dog Dicksee ever entered for a dog show. At one show at Olympia, Dicksee walked the dog from Hampstead to the show venue to try to get weight off him before he went in the ring!
"Groupe Lévrier Et King Charles" by Pierre-Jules Mêne (1810-1879) . First cast after 1846, it is approximately 6 ¼ x 9 ¾ inches high.
