The coastal route from Newcastle to Edinburgh is spectacular. Crossing into Scotland the views are stunning with rocky cliffs overlooking the North Sea on one side and tall, rolling hills and grazing sheep on the other. The Scottish Kennel Clubhave two All breeds championship shows per year both held at the Royal Highland Showground and Exhibition centre near Edinburgh. The Centre hosts, amongst other events, the Royal Highland Show which is Scotland's annual farming and countryside showcase
Wilma Sutherland (Ebonleigh) lives near Aberdeen and made the trip to Edinburgh to judge Cavaliers. She must have been so excited and satisfied to see her BOB and BP go onto more success in the Groups and Best In Show rings. Cesar Cortes and his recently crowned Champion MILETREE MONTESUMA OF LONDONnot only won Best of Breedunder Wilma but went on to take the Toy Group and the cherry on top of all dog shows.....BEST IN SHOW under Andrew Brace. It was a great moment captured on video and so good that Ruta Towse (who together with her husband Peter bred "Uno") was there to witness the special moment. Wilma's Best Puppy took the eye of Ernie Paterson who gave Bonitos Companeros Moulin Rouge at Craigowl...Toy Puppy Group 2. A good day for our breed.

MAGIC MOMENTS
Meet 'Magic'...Veronica Hull writes My oldest at the moment is 17 yrs 8 months and 10 days of age. Magic,(Telvara Velvet Touch) was born into my hands on the 20th December 1996, and last year at 17 she took part in the heart research programme fronted by leading cardiologist Professor Simon Swift. She was DNA’d and Dopplered by Simon with the result showing a heart murmur graded ‘between ONE and TWO’. This seemed to surprise the experts but to be honest it didn’t surprise me. Magic is still very agile.... her eye sight, hearing and faculties are razor sharp, and she loves to eat. Her closely ‘line-bred’ pedigree is full long lived Cavaliers, and her son at 13yrs and 8 months is following in his ancestors pawsteps.....
In the photo taken on Sunday, Magic had commandeered the puppies' sofa bed, which needless to say is now HER bed... She requires no medication for any ills and I’m hopeful she will celebrate her 18th Birthday in December. Her close relation, my beloved homebred Sasha so very nearly made it to 18 and like Magic, she never needed meds for anything, but at 17 yrs 11 months and 13 days my sweet Sasha just let out a contented deep sigh, and left us. So we’re keeping everything crossed for my little B/T Princess to become sweet 18, and counting" what an ispirational girl, Veronica.

"Today we share the sad news that we lost a very special person - our first Champion, Lochbuie Geordie, just short of 9 years old. We thought that Geordie must have bad teeth that were troubling her usual piggy eating habits but the vet didn’t feel that they were the problem. Blood tests revealed a very high white blood cell count and after a course of antibiotics did not improve her appetite we opted for an ultrasound scan of vital organs. They discovered a hidden lump yesterday and an exploratory op this morning revealed that she had an inoperable tumour that had spread over several vital organs including stomach & pancreas.
For those that knew Geordie from her show days you will know what a big hole she leaves. Geordie was a true princess – she hated to get her feet wet, would never stand still to be groomed and had to be pinned down to have her toenails cut! Totally unpredictable in the show ring, she showed her pants off when only she wanted to, yet always stole hearts with her “pick me” attitude. I know that you will understand how we feel. The energy that I threw into showing Geordie when my first husband left and my father died, saw me through some dark days and no single Cavalier that I have ever lived with has given so much pleasure and been such a rascal too.
Only last week she was taking part in a follow-up gait study at the Royal Veterinary College where she won the hearts of the vet team. Geordie was a fabulous ambassador for the breed and there certainly won’t be another one!" Sheena Vella and Diana Maclaine

HOW "ART" THOU? from the Hamshere Gallery
Etchings by the great English canine artist Herbert Thomas Dicksee RE, (1862 – 1942) He was a dog lover often seen walking his Bloodhound. The Dandie Dinmont and Pugs in his etching were family dogs, as was the favourite Bull Terrier. The black French Bulldog, ’Shaver’, featured in etchings was the only dog Dicksee ever entered for a dog show. At one show in Olympia, Dicksee walked the dog from Hampstead to the show venue to try to get weight off him before he went in the ring!
“Prince Charles aka Bonnie Prince Charlie” was published by the Fine Arts Society in 1902. It measures approximately 7½ x 9½ inches. Only artists original signed proofs and this is signed and titled in pencil by the artist. It is believed that this is perhaps the artist's own Spaniel also known as "Prince Charles".
"Fire Worshippers" published and exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1899. It is approximately 18 x 28 inches.

We are a registered charity who care for Cavaliers in the United Kingdom. Our Aim is to 'Help the well-being and welfare of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels in the UK'
Our Trustees and Committee are all volunteers and as a National organization, we have a network of helpers through out the UK who arrange re homing visits for us. So no matter where a Cavalier needs assistance in re homing we can help.
Taking on one of our welfare dogs is a commitment which, hopefully you have given a lot of thought and careful consideration to. This commitment could be as long as 10 - 12 years. However, your new Cavalier King Charles Spaniel will be your wonderful, trusting, loyal companion and a member of your family.
If you would like to apply to join our waiting list then please read the pages on How we Operate and Rehome a Cavalier.
If you are in the situation where you need our help in re homing an existing Cavalier then in the first instance you should contact our Co-Ordinator who can explain how the service works in a confidential manner.

BIRMINGHAM BEAUTIES
The City of Birmingham All Breeds Ch show is located at Stoneleigh Park in the heart of England within a 30 minutes drive of Birmingham, Coventry, Warwick, Leamington Spa and Stratford-upon-Avon. It is a convenient and flexible indoor and outdoor venue and ticks many boxes for a dog show site. However as it covers 3 days, if your breed is held on the Friday it can be a nightmare traffic wise getting there and going home. Unless you live 5 minutes away! Cavaliers had 205 entries, so many were not deterred by the daunting travel facing them. Judges this year were Sheena Maclaine (Pennygown) and Anne Rennard (Deranmar).Champions were the flavour of the day...with two new Cavalier Champions crowned on the day, making 9 Cavaliers gaining their UK titles so far this year. Outside the ring, Anita Godwin laid on a lovely spread to toast her latest Champion Cavaliegh Jacob who was made up in July. She generously shared the refreshments with friends who were happy to help her celebrate. Here are some happy moments from the day...
